Why Does It Matter?

Well, which reading is right?

In Mark 6:22 on the basis just three Greek manuscripts ( א, B, and D) the Nestle-Aland/United Bible
Society Greek text (NU) has: “the daughter that was his” which would make the girl who danced for
Herod HIS daughter!

96.5% of the Greek manuscripts, including the best line of transmission (f35) have: “the daughter
that was hers” which would make her the daughter of Herodias.

From Roman history, we know that this girl’s name was ‘Salome’ and that she was the daughter of
Herodias, not Herod. The NU Greek text, which is the basis for most modern translations, introduces
a historical inaccuracy into the New Testament, undermining one’s confidence in the flawless
inspiration and reliable transmission of the New Testament by the Holy Spirit.

There are MANY examples of such as this!
